Instructions and Help about bronze veteran grave markers

As Americans we're grateful to the countless sacrifices made by our nation's veterans this profound sense of appreciation is expressed through a number of different ways in both life and death for deceased veterans our nation honors them with a traditional government headstone or grave marker that's available by law depending on eligibility but many departed veterans are laid to rest using privately purchased markers for those who qualify va offers a special medallion that's designed to attach to these existing privately purchased markers the medallion which is available on request signifies the deceased honored status as a veteran this unique insignia is available in three widths five inches three inches as well as one and a half inches so before placing your order it's important to determine what size is needed that's done by measuring available space on the headstone to make sure the medallion fits in the desired area and won't block any inscriptions it's also recommended that you talk with cemetery management about your plan to order a medallion to make certain there are no restrictions of any sort as a veteran's next of kin or authorized representative once you know what size is needed placing the order is simple simply use VA form 40 - 1330 M which is available on the National Cemetery administration website at wwlp.com then mail or fax the completed form along with copies of other documents such as form DD 214 the veterans discharged certificate but be sure not to mail original documents to VA since they won't be returned the fax number and mailing address are both included on the form once VA receives a request for a medallion it will take about 20 days to process approve and ship it to you through the US Postal Service Federal Express or UPS the installation kit will come in a padded envelope and include the medallion itself along with everything needed to permanently install it when going to the cemetery in addition to the medallion kit you'll also need to take along a cloth towel brush scissors spray cleaner and a small square piece of wood or cardboard first make sure the area where you'll be affixing the medallion is clean and dry use the brush or towel along with a cleaning solution if needed to remove any dirt or tree sap from the headstone then make sure the newly cleaned area is completely dry next take scissors and cut the ends of the double tube adhesive packet squeeze the adhesive from both tubes onto the small piece of wood or cardboard use the wooden stick from the medallion kit to mix the two compounds of the adhesive thoroughly together then use the stick to spread the glue evenly on the back of the medallion when doing that be sure not to get it close to the edge of the medallion that's to avoid loose Preda got beyond its edges when pressing to a fix-it on the headstone being careful.

How do casket lowering devices work? How are they removed prior to filling in a grave?
The burial device is a system of, usually, two, thick straps that are attached to rolling cylinders that are controlled by a winding mechanism which straddle an open grave. It is a separate piece from the rest of the grave set up, and can be moved and collapsed for portability's sake. The straps, which sit perpendicular to the open grave and rolling cylinders, are used to rest the casket upon, until such time as the casket needs to be lowered into the grave. At this point, the cemetery worker or funeral director can release the lock on the lowering mechanism, and the casket slowly makes its descent into a waiting grave liner or burial vault.Once the casket is completely lowered, the straps are wriggled from underneath the casket, and are, then, manually wound up, being sure that the straps neatly rewind so that the next use is facilitated.I hope this is an adequate response!
I would like to look into bringing home to the United States a WWII veteran from his marked grave in Italy, how does a person begin that process?
Don’t they have a section in the Veteran’s administration that deals with repatriation of remains? I hear they are still looking for MIAs in Vietnam after all these years. You would probably need special permission to disinter a body and transport it back to the US.
What is the best way to get a reservation at Noma? How many hours before reservations for the month to fill? I’m desperate to eat there, and I’d love some advice from a veteran.
I recently made a reservation online for Noma (noma - reservations). Here's an account of how I did it.  I live in New York, and will be visiting the area in May. I learned that reservations for May become available on 3 March, at 10am CET. That's 4am in New York. I had read an account by someone that they were able to make a reservation online, but had to refresh the page for 4 hours before they got into the system. So we figured out exactly which days we could go, and which times, and wrote them down in order of preference so that we wouldn't have to worry about thinking things through in the middle of the night. I went to sleep early and set my alarm for 3:55am. My boyfriend, who's more of a night person, chose to stay up late working on things. At about 3am he refreshed the reservations page and it said something like "You will be put in a queue. You're number XX" (I forget what number he was, but it was randomly assigned). He opened a couple different browsers, and 2 on my computer, each with different positions in the queue. One of mine was #175 - by far the farthest ahead in the line. (The next closest was in the 300s, and one of them was somewhere in the realm of 2000).  At 4am it changed slightly, reporting "You are #175. There are X people in front of you." It refreshed every 30 seconds or so with a revised number, and also gave me an eof when it would be my turn to enter the system. I was in by 4:15.  When it was my turn, I was able to select a date from the calendar. Our first choice of date (a Saturday) appeared to have seatings available for lunch, but by the time I entered my info, they were no longer available. Our second choice of date (a Friday) had seatings available, and I was able to lock it in more quickly because it had saved my contact details from the first attempt.  We were done in 5-10 minutes, but I was so excited about it, I couldn't go back to sleep until about 5am. Being randomly assigned a spot in the queue is much better than refreshing the browser for 4 hours. An additional note: This year Noma has added a shared table. While reservations for the regular restaurant tables are booked a couple months in advance, the shared table is booked only a few weeks in advance. This may make it easier for some people to make a more spontaneous plan to go to Noma.
How does one get invited to the Quora Partner Program? What criteria do they use, or is it completely random?
I live in Germany. I got an invite to the Quora partner program the day I landed in USA for a business trip. So from what I understand, irrespective of the number of views on your answers, there is some additional eligibility criteria for you to even get an email invite. If you read the terms of service, point 1 states:Eligibility. You must be located in the United States to participate in this Program. If you are a Quora employee, you are eligible to participate and earn up to a maximum of $200 USD a month. You also agree to be bound by the Platform Terms (https://www.quora.com/about/tos) as a condition of participation.Again, if you check the FAQ section:How can other people I know .participate? The program is invite-only at this time, but we intend to open it up to more people as time goes on.So my guess is that Quora is currently targeting people based out of USA, who are active on Quora, may or may not be answering questions frequently ( I have not answered questions frequently in the past year or so) and have a certain number of consistent answer views.Edit 1: Thanks to @Anita Scotch, I got to know that the Quora partner program is now available for other countries too. Copying Anuta’s comment here:If you reside in one of the Countries, The Quora Partner Program is active in, you are eligible to participate in the program.” ( I read more will be added, at some point, but here are the countries, currently eligible at this writing,) U.S., Japan, Germany, Spain, France, United Kingdom, Italy and Australia.11/14/2018Edit 2 : Here is the latest list of countries with 3 new additions eligible for the Quora Partner program:U.S., Japan, Germany, Spain, France, United Kingdom, Italy, Canada, Australia, Indonesia, India and Brazil. Thanks to Monoswita Rez for informing me about this update.
